The cause of a road collapse in County Durham, UK, has been located. The offender: womens underwear.
A bra and a pair of underpants were flushed down a toilet in Northern England. This caused a sewer blockage which, together with the recent heavy rain, made the pipe burst. The road running above the pipe then collapsed.
This irresponsible method of clothes disposal is going to cost the water company about £15 000!
It is not possible to trace the flusher, but a spokeswoman for Northumbrian Water did issue the following statement:
"These pipes are not designed to carry bras and knickers."
So now we know.
