For anyone who has ever had to pack away a wet swimsuit after being at the pool, or laid uncomfortably on the beach in a soggy bikini, these problems may be solved with some clever new technology. Solestrom International have developed a swimwear fabric which acts like a second skin, allowing water to immediately run off the swimsuit once the wearer comes out of water. The Sun Dry Swim fabric works by letting water pass through the fabric rather than absorbing it into the fibres, so as soon as you get out of the pool or sea you quickly become comfortably dry again.
Amy Hardin, of Sun Dry said: "The nanotechnology treatment, similar to that used to make fabrics splash or stain resistant, is water based and environmentally friendly”. She said the technology is particularly good for children who are in and out of the water all day.
The fabric also promises to be colour-fast, chlorine resistant and long lasting, the makers also pioneered swimsuits with built in UV protection. Sun Dry swimsuits are available for men, women and children in a wide range of sizes.
