London Fashion Week is Back

London Fashion Week Jaeger

It hardly seems two minutes since the last one, but London Fashion Week has once more landed in the UK?s capital.

And what a start! Although one often wonders why LFW begins on a Sunday (when all good fashionistas should be getting their beauty sleep and recovering from their Saturday night), this years opening shows did not dissapoint.

Jaeger London, Topshop Unique, Modernist and Ann-Sofie Back all delighted, but it was Biba that really stood out. With shockingly short micro mini dresses and skirts, one must be sure that you are wearing good underwear to save everyone?s blushes!! Once more grey tights, woolly and opaque, are the order of the day, as are towering patent shoe boots in grey or egg shell blue. This collection was extremely wearable, and maintained an element of sex, whilst being pretty and cute. With an obvious nod to thier 60?s roots, Biba didnt set out to shock with anything we havent seen before, but maintained the standards that we all know and love, with cute mini dresses, beutiful knits, tailored shorts and swing coats.

Topshop Unique is gaining an increasing amount of prestige and weight amongst the fashion crowd. Although infinatley wearable (leather tunic dresses, sloughy knits), the muted and relatively safe pallette of black, grey and ash, left us hungry for something more inspiring and ?edgy?.

A huge pat on the back goes to Jaegar London, who have been working hard to loose their middle-of-the-road ?mumsy? image. They?ve almost achieved the fashion credibility they have been striving for, with beautiful capes, faux monkey fur black and white coats (although the words last season and Fendi do spring to mind) and 70?s flares, which were all greated with much delight. And its not surprising- they invested top dollar into making this show seem ?cool?. With Vogue?s Lucinda Chambers as stylist, Kate Moss? hairstylist Sam McKnight, and the super talented Stephen Jones as milliner, they could?nt really fail.

Must dash, I?ve just got time to go and catch this afternoon?s shows, whizz round to exhibition and fly round tonights parties before I report back to you tomorrow!
