And who said bras are just for women? An online, Japanese retailer has started selling bras for boys, ‘Men’s Premium Brassiere’s’, and they are fast becoming their best selling items. Since its launch two-weeks ago on Rakuten, a major online Japanese lingerie shopping mall, The Wishroom has sold over 300 men’s bras for 2,800 yen (£30) each.
The lady-boy lingerie sales have shocked and surprised Wishroom’s Executive Director Akiko Okunomiya, and has only shown to prove just how many men are in fact searching for their inner woman, and with the ‘bra for boys’ coming in black, white and pink will, “make you feel more gentle,” a feeling, which according to Wishroom representative Masayuki Tsuchiya is “a very important feeling to have.”
These soft, silken boy-bras is a topic which has stirred a rather heated debate; inviting more than 8000 people per night to voice their ‘bra for boys’ opinion on Mixi, Japans highest rated social site. The Japanese lingerie market is set to thrive as consumers and technology becomes increasingly adventurous; and following the launch of a solar-powered bra that can charge an I-Pod; ‘bras for boys’ will be only one of any number of exciting lingerie ventures.
