Beauty Trends For Autumn/Winter

Once you have stocked up on new season designer lingerie to make sure you look good on the inside, its time to update your make-up, to look good on the outside. To make it simple, there are two major trends for beauty this season, block graphics and natural elfin. Block graphics is best for evening makeup, or small doses in the day, and follows on from summer 70’s and 80’s trends of bright colours and statement eyes.

Liquid eyeliner was all over the A/W catwalks, and stays put better than pencil. It can be softened with eyeshadow in the day, and for night drag out the ends slightly for a ‘winged’ look. Bright colours and metallic shades still go for eyes as seen at Dior and Zac Posen, but if you prefer a more muted look go for bronze or grey. Lips have grown in sophistication from the summer glosses to lush lipstick in cherry and chocolate shades. This should be concentrated in the middle of the lips and spread out using a lip brush.

The elfin look as seen at Chloe relies on glowing skin, flushed with rosy blusher. To achieve this look use a luminiser under foundation. Forget over-plucking, it’s fashionable to have big brows! Lips can stay nude with a lip stain, and brighten eyes in caramel browns or pastels.

That’s two very different looks to experiment with – remember, your face is a canvas!
