Corset Sizing
This overbust and underbust corset sizing guide is designed to help you choose a corset that will provide you the best hourglass shape. Corsets are designed to accentuate a womans figure by minimizing her waist and accentuating your bust. They achieve this by cinching you in at the waist, which shifts excess body fat around your middle upwards. The steel boning within a corset provides strong support which will maintain this shape and the back lacing allows for you to tighten or loosen the corset where desired. Corsets are quite flexible and can be worn tighter or loosened, as you desire.
To determine the best size for you:
Take two measurements for your corset:
(i) Your natural waist (the smallest circumference around your middle) and
(ii) The fullest area of your bust
Note the measurements below are in inches. If you prefer to take your measurements in centimetres then convert them to inches by dividing them by 2.54. 1”=2.54cm.
Subtract your waist measurement from your bust measurement. If the difference is 10” or less, than go to Step 3. If the difference is 10” or more, please email us at info@miodestino.co.uk with your measurements and indicate the corset you would like to purchase. We will need to have your corset custom made. Please note, there will be a £50 surcharge.
Step Three
Subtract 2-5” from your natural waist size and select the closest even number. (For example, if your waist size is 29”, than we suggest you order either 26”or 24”.)
How do I decide how small of a waist size to order?
1. What is the look you hope to achieve?
If you wish to achieve the smallest waist possible, order your corset 4-5” smaller than your natural waist. However, bear in mind a few considerations.
2. Will you be wearing the corset for an extended period of time?
If, for example, you are wearing your corset under a bridal gown, you will want to be comfortable and able to breath and sit with ease, we suggest ordering 2” smaller than your natural waist.
3. How much body fat do you have around your middle?
If you are quite lean, without a lot of body fat around your middle, you will have less to squeeze or cinch in. If you have been blessed with more body fat around your middle, you can order a luxury corset 4-5” smaller than your waist and achieve an amazing silhouette!
