It’s not all doom and gloom!
England’s cricketers are heading home as glorious losers, Steve Mclaren is being battered from pillar to post over the football team’s disappointing performances.
On the golfing front, Justin Rose and Luke Donald showed glimpses of making a charge before falling back into the pack at ‘The Masters’ in Augusta and the Home Nations rugby teams were left behind by their Gallic counterparts from across the English Channel.
But there ‘is’ light at the end of the tunnel, Andy Murray is flying up the world rankings on the tennis circuit and is surely our best chance in decades to take the Wimbledon crown. But the real ‘new kid on the block’ is Lewis Hamilton, our very own Formula 1 record breaker.
Three starts at the top of his chosen sport and three podium finishes! Surely with the correct backing and support, these guys can be inspirations to our youngsters (and possibly our established professionals) to go on and produce further world recognition in sport.
These guys surely deserve more exposure so we can focus on the positives.

I agree that our sportsmen deserve more exposure, but I also feel that they require more funding in many areas and a greater emphasis on sport at school. Team building, health…the list goes on…
